For Tignes Rugby Academy, Week 2, Day 2 the focus switched to development of playing skills on the pitch and physical conditioning in the gym. With tired bodies and minds from Day 1, this day is the big test for all young players – the group and coaches have to really dig in mentally to get past the challenge.
In a variation from the programme, after breakfast, the players headed to the Cantona pitch & extension for the session dedicated to offloading in contact, mixing drills and games to encourage good technique and awareness.
The second half of the morning programme moved to Tignespace, where the players were introduced to the principles of flexibility and injury prevention, with 30M sprints, single leg co-ordination and a foam rolling masterclass from Denis.
After a nutritious lunch, the players headed back to the pitch for a set of fun evasion games, as part of early programme recovery.
The evening mixed free time, dinner and the latest UCPA group activity, before it was off to bed early to get the body repaired and the mind back on track for a busy Wednesday.
