The 2019 PSA Rugby Academy Tignes has been widely hailed by staff, coaches and most importantly players & parents having wrapped up after three fabulous high performance weeks in the French Alps resort.
The new and improved rugby development programme delivered this year made a huge impression on a seriously committed, ambitious and talented group of over 120 players across the duration of the Academy, with a seriously impressive 10 countries being represented (France, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Spain. Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Singapore & Jordan).
Satisfyingly, the new high performance elements like the PSA Player Development Journal and new Mental Wellness/Sports Nutrition modules were a hit with the players who as ever rose to the challenge set on the pitch by a high calibre coaching team led by Philippe Saint Andre, Johne Murphy & Simon Sinclair.
The new elevated grass pitch provided an extra altitude hit plus some spectacular imagery from the pitch skills and assessment sessions, whilst the chance to meet Top14 players from LOU & Montpellier Rugby proved a fantastic experience for the Academy players. As ever, the non-rugby activities available in Tignes generally and in the evening at the UCPA were a massive hit with the players, where lifelong, overseas friendships were forged.
There was a minor disappointment when the closing stages of the Tour de France stage to Tignes got called off but the players still had the unique experience of the seeing the Tour and it’s caravan of competitors, support staff, media and supporters descend on the resort.
